The long and complex relationship between humans and dogs predates written history, but never before now has man been so casually intent on screwing it up. The Dogs Gallery (and its artists) actively supports the following two excellent dog rescue societies serving the San Fernando and Conejo Valleys. Both promote spaying and neutering and both have great success in finding (and vetting) caring homes for dogs. And cats.

L.I.F.E. Animal Rescue
Our mission is to rescue homeless or abandoned dogs and cats and place them in permanent, responsible and loving homes. L.I.F.E. promotes and practices an aggressive spay/neuter effort to help resolve the pet overpopulation problem, L.I.F.E. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization relying soley on donations to continue its work.
The Brittany Foundation
We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless dogs. We're volunteers who rescue dogs and foster them in our own homes. In our care, the dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and given a thorough check-up along with any necessary medical attention. We rescue all dogs, regardless of breed, and we often focus our efforts on the harder-to-place dogs such as seniors, disabled or abused dogs, and "media condemned" breeds such as Pit Bulls. It's relatively easy to find a home for a cute little Chihuahua, but the gratification for us comes from placing the 6-yr. Pit Bull with one eye, or the 12-yr. Doberman with severe separation anxiety (who is now living in a wonderful home of his own). Of course, we also have a lot of adorable, easy, well-behaved angels who are searching for their forever-homes too.
Another wonderful site we would like to recommend that helps the animals:
Tails of Joy
Tails of Joy is a not-for-profit (501c3) organization founded by
comedian/writer/animal activist Elayne Boosler. Our goal, with your help, is to make the world better for animals and their people. We raise funds for the smallest, neediest rescues all across the country. We work for the passing and enforcing of anti-cruelty, and animal welfare laws.
