Original commissioned portraits:
Throughout the history of art, successful portrait painters have found that it is the work they did for the muse, not the buck, that inspired people to retain them for portraiture. Thus the paradox of the portraiture trap: those that painted an endless series of accurate portraits without pushing their work to new levels, found their appeal was narrow, their work-flow ultimately drying up. Those artists that found varied contexts for their portraits-- irony, humor, even social commentary –found wider appeal and thereby a wider patronage. A look in our gallery will show our artists are among this later group. While they continually manage to avoid the “portrait trap” by pushing their techniques, they thrive on original commissions.

The Dogs* is ideally set up to assist in the process, offering specific photography to aid the artist, at no cost to the patron. The costs for an original commission vary by artist, complexity, and number of subjects, but are very reasonable for a work of lasting and incomparable art.

The following CD-ROMs are available at no cost for each of our artists. Each has an extensive portfolio, testimonials, and biographic material
